Empty Nest

Can it really stay this cold this long?

I mean it is in Tennessee. I moved here thinking it would be warmer. Hah!!.  I did get out today, the only two icy spots are my driveway and the road that leads to the main road.  Once on the main roads they were fine.  So I got to the store and have enough stuff so I don't have to go for a while.  I have plenty of wine, food, coffee.  Used to be I'd need cigarettes too but thank goodness that addiction is gone. 

I would like to tell you the wonderful things going on in my daily life but.snow/ice days are rather boring, don't you think?  At least its playoff Saturday....Who are you picking to win.  I've got the Bengals and the Eagles.  Don't get excited, I'm usually dead wrong on these.  It would be ok if the Jets win but I just don't think I could take it if Dallas did.  Let me know how you did..

There is some dreadful noise going on out front.  I'd better go look and see what's going on.  Ice and Tennessee just don't mix!!!!!

Yesterday was beautiful...Nearly 60 , Sunny...beautiful.   Today.....2-3" of snow , freezing.  Gotta luv the Tennessee weather

Mercifully the A/C is fixed.  Some SOB turned off the circuit breaker.  I, of course had no idea where it was and I checked the breakers in the apt and they were fine.  The guy just said some meaney came by and turned it off.  It wasn't tripped, they just turned it off  SOB's.  It's still hotter n'  hell in here but its going to the right direction!!

Again idiot.....

Ok, its not me (this time) being the idiot its the idiot weatherman.  You know, the fool who told the whole damn town on the 22nd that this sleet and ice would amount to nuthin.  Just be careful on bridges and underpasses.   Yeah, the drive (see pictures below) that too me 1 hr 45mins to work.  200 accidents that day, in K'town and 500 in surrounding areas.  Yeah, that idiot.............
He just said that it may snow tonight but don't worry about it, "it shouldn't turn into anything"..Oh yeah its 14 right now and this dope didn't wear a coat to work.  I would watch another station but I've already tried all of them and actually, all three of them are idiots!!!
Oh yeah, and with a forecast of "maybe snow".  There will be no bread, milk, etc anywhere in the grocery store!!!

JUST TO EXPLAIN

I live about 7-8 miles from work.  Shouldn't take more than 10-15 mins to get there.  I left this morning at 7:06 according to my car clock.  I walked into the office on a sheet of ice at 8:45 am.  There was nothing on the road when I left the house and before I got even close to work I was at a stand still.  I happened so damn fast.  If its even close to freezing in the  morning I'm staying home until the sun melts the ice....it's still raining now..  27 deg in the am.  sh*t

HOLY WEATHER...............

I thought it was cold here....Feels like 2.  I was going to whine, moan etc until the Today show came on and said in some places in Minnesota it felt like -40 yesterday.  That in just not good for trying to sustain life..........Sorry Minnesota and let me just say, I always knew there was a good reason I never wanted to live there............

I KNOW, WE DON'T KNOW DOWN HERE

Listen, I know that people "down south" don't have a clue about bad weather.  By bad I mean cold today and yesterday.  BUT it is now 15 degrees and its not supposed to get any warmer than 24 degrees,which is exactly like it was yesterday.  SH*T.  In trying to conserve "electricity bills" my house is NOW F*ing freezing in here!!! Maxi is curled up on the couch under a blanket.  It's supposed to start warming up tomorrow but for us pampered southerners are just not likeing this weather very much at all.   A little bit of snow would be pretty if its going to be this darned cold!!!  Have a nice Thursday folks

Wind chill is 1...todays high 29..The only thing I totally hate about it when its this cold,,,,There isn't any snow anywhere to just enjoy!!

It is December 11th, 2007.  The high today is going to be 73 degrees..That's right 73.  The record is 69,  the average is in the 50's.  It's supposed to be 23 Sat night and snow.......Go figure.  Now you know why I never put my "summer" clothes away,,,,,,,,

Holy Toledo!!

So I've been b*t*ing about the heat since May I think.  Its been so miserable and dry that summer was hard to enjoy.  Everyone was waiting for Fall.  There is a freeze warning for this morning and one again tomorrow.   It's going to be in the 60's this afternoon so as much as I want to put the heat on, I hate to with it being so warm today.  Maxi can climb under the covers until it warms up!!
I have to say this.  I have two friends that I met "blogging".  They are the greatest two people I've ever met and I look forward to hearing from them all the time.  They're fun and great friends.  (Even if they did send a Yankees blanket one time!!).  Today is their 15th anniversary and if you are at all curious about the way true love should be....go read each of their sites especially the posts from a day or so ago.  You will find out and reading their blogs will only confirm that.  I love them and they're truly my bff's....Go say hi and Happy Anniversary...Laura and Deb...

Sweet Hesus....I just hung up the phone with Deb and Laura.  You know, the one's who have been in Orlando since around the 6th of March..Yep them.  the ones who were to fly home Friday (the 16th) night. 
They're still in Orlando.  Have been stuck there since Friday night.  No motel, nuttin'   .  They have a flight home tomorrow night...late..  They were supposed to be at work tomorrow.  Not..They're both fine but lets say.......not full of joy at the prospect of spending any more time in Florida.........

I know, shut up Mom, you're in Tennessee and its only 22...get over that. But, its still cold and I still don't like it and once again I didn't sleep worth a crap last night.  NOT a lick ..So, I'm tired, cold and just plain grumpy....How're you today?
At least my house didn't try to burn down.......There is one thing here to be very grateful for today.  The well being of friends is always a blessing...To some people its "never a dull moment".  To friends its a big ol' "Thanks God"
Football is over for 6 months.  I'm sad.  I forget how much Iove it until right after the Super Bowl and its gone.......Daytona 500 isn't until the 18th, and thats just about the time Pitchers and Catcher report but......neither one of them is football.  So, in my deep wisdom, I'll share with you my thoughts...the next two weeks are just plain awful....boring...etc.  Can I go back to bed and get out around Labor Day?

EEEEEK...TWO

Well, the little weather dude's were right for a change.  IT ACTUALLY SNOWED!! and it still it.  This is great to an extent.  When I have to get out and drive, then it sucks.  It hasn't snowed enough to not go into work yet.  It's actually supposed to do that later in the morning...Oh Joy..and then, it's going to turn to freezing rain, rain, and then more snow overnight.................I'll drive in the snow although I'd rather not but get this..I WILL NOT DRIVE ON ICE!!!!  Went off the side of a mountain once on ice and that's when I swore off driving on it...So...off I go today.  Well, first shower etc.  By the way, the hair turned out pretty darned good after I washed all of that crap out of it and did it myself. Hair cutter is safe folks...........Now the nails, of which I only have 9 left.   I may give it one more "filler" and see how that works.  I broke one nail over the weekend. I know what happened and how it happened and if the nail hadn't been there.......the end of my finger would have been in serious question so to that nail in the trash can..."thanks buddy, you did a fine job"............
Later folks, I'll send snow pictures via phone and I'll take some with the camera too for later tonight.........TGIT!!!!

Four days off!!!!

Finally, my four day weekend is here. I work today and then I'm getting my four day weekend. There's only one way to put it....If I don't get them this time, I have to give them up....I will be taking them, believe me.  Oh yeah, and its supposed to snow tomorrow.  mmm.. Glad I don't have any big plans.

I, like my daughter, continue to pray for the man in the Northwest who is still missing.  For some reason, they think he's still alive and I dearly hope he is but I'm afraid it may have been too long.  Say a prayer for him, however you pray, and maybe they'll find him today.  Alive.

It's Freezing...literally

Holy crap.  It's freezing here and I put the heat on last night. THE HEAT...It's not supposed to be this damn cold in October in Tennessee. 
Go Giants.  I did fall asleep during the game but they had a pretty decent lead last night when I did.  I just saw the highlights of the game and it looks like TO was celebrating something when they were down two scores.  I can't stand him.
I don't have much to say.  I know I'm getting sick of Studio 60 now.  It's a good show but there isn't a character that I like much therefore, if I don't care...why should I watch.  ?  That was my issue with West Wing.   If it was on and nothing else was, I'd watch otherwise...Sorry....Heroes still has me. I haven't seen last nights episode in it entirety but I'm liking that one so far.

This is Tennessee and its only October!!!  What happened to FALL!!

Swim?

Good God it poured yesterday.  Poor Maxi, he just flat will not go out in the rain...that is unless I go with him.  I can tie him up but I have to be out there.  And no, I do not spoil that dog..what?  are you nuts.  I had to change clothes every time he went out, and believe me ..he didn't ask to go out, I had to make him.  Once he nearly didn't make it to the grass he had to whiz so darned bad.  Oh yeah, I did take umbrellas with we folks, really
For those of you who know about UT football, the team didn't go onto the field by running through the "T" last night for the first time its ever not been done since the 60's..He had a hard time with the "GO OUT NOW, ITS NOT RAINING" concept.  My pampas grass came out of the ground.  When I went to bed we'd had 5 inches and it was still raining...The sun was out for a while this morning but its supposed to be rainy etc today.  Just not near as bad as yesterday.
I need to call the landlord and tell him to fix my dripping living room window.  Anyone want to bet on whether he'll fix it before the fence (which was damaged during a tornado warning in 2003) or after....
Football today.  mmmm.  I'm pulling for the Patriots on my "suicide football" sheet.  There aren't any sure things this weekend that I haven't picked already.  Oakland is off so I can't pick whoever is playing them.
I'm pulling like hell for the Titans (which is a waste of time, I know) and the Giants.  I love Eli Manning and so want him to go to the Super Bowl and win the damn thing.  Long before his brother does.  Did you know, that he's the only one of the Mannings who has ever thrown a game winning touchdown in over time.  Not even his dad has done that...
One more thing:  I've made another location for TV shows.  We'll see if anyone reads it.  I can post there and not give away the spoiler stuff on this site.  Some people tape it and I'd rather not ruin it.  Its link is over there in the right hand column right under tonight's TV shows called "Just TV"....Feel free to go there but there's only one post about TV but like I said, its a testing.....Zoot gave me the idea but mine's not nearly as good as hers it..  Its just there..

Where the hell did my town get these damn weather dudes?  K-mart, Walmart....what ever...This guy this morning said we'd have storms today.  Could possibly be bad at times.  So I shut down the computer and everything else that might get damaged by storms for the second day of threats this week.  And just like the other day....not a drop....not one....Can they not find someone who can even get close sometimes.?  I understand that here in the valley it might be difficult but for goodness sake people.  What we have here is about 10% accuracy..
Ok enough...and why am I never the "featured blog" here....Have never seen myself listed..I'll have to come up with some sort of "theme" don't you think...mmmm....
I could mention the fact that two UT football players were either suspended or kicked off of the team in the past 2 days.  One takes on a cop, one takes on a girl and her mother in a restaurant.  The one who wouldn't get away from the cop when he had the opportunity.............wanted his chicken fingers....holy shit....And this morning, on the radio, they mentioned that we haven't had trouble with the police since last July.  YOU GO FOOTBALL TEAM.  Nearly made it a year!!! Whooooooo.............Do you think basketball season could start sooner than usual this year...
I could talk about the Cubs...............nah...Maddux finally lost a game.  Our last bright star got slammed last night.....Pryor has food poisoning.  What the hell is he doing eating?  His job is to get well and pitch dammit.  Eating is not a right...its a privilege that has not been granted and will not be granted until you figure out how the hell to earn those millions you're being paid.............Food poisoning.......geeze..
Do you think Michele Wie will ever win a golf tournament that she SHOULD play in? Like in the LPGA and just quit playing with the men until she gets good with the women?
You know some people think I'm grumpy because I listen to sports radio etc.  What?  you think I should watch the news so I can learn about Bird Flu?  or how about the war? or how about the price of oil? or how high can gas go?  Yep, that's the answer....
Survivor is on tonight.  Maybe that will lift my otherwise pleasant mood.  I'm on vacation beginning May 13th..  Soon enough?  See, I'm gaining ground on the smile issue..Thanks I needed that!!

SURE SIGN OF SPRING..

Anyone who was reading this last summer knows how much I hate heat. Summer is the "dreaded" season for me...Spring...that's a different story.  I love spring.  I wish it was Spring/Fall all year long.  SO WHY THE HELL IS IT 63 NOW....I'm having to put the AC on since there is no cross breeze in an apartment and it gets very warm in here, very fast and I HATE this..  Especially this early in the year.  Maxi hates it too because he has no screened doors he can lay down and look outside and he loves that...BUT let me also say, that this is better than rain and cold, especially on Easter.  To me, that is worse than the heat.  Easter is the official sign of spring and I do like it when its in April, and beautiful.  I just wanted to bitch for a few minutes, lest anyone think I was dropping the ball.

Everyone in my family is fine.  I've either talked to them or received e-mail from them.  The ones in Hendersonville still didn't have power late last night, or phones but blackberry's are wonderful.  And the other one in Madison was fine  we "Skyped".  I just spoke with Zoot and although the had an eventful night in the bathroom they're fine.  I just can't imagine living in a place with tornado sirens...I'd be scared all time......
Anyway, I'm off to catch up on housework etc.  Oh joy, I'm so much FUN!!!!!

Some good things today..WHOO  Start of baseball season.  The only team I really care about, the Cubbies, are playing at 2 today.  Pres baby is throwing out the first pitch.  I'd say he's going to jinx the Cubbies but come on.......they're the Cubs, people.  The own their own jinxes........

I've been playing with my camera some more by the way...I did make the collage below of Maxi before/after his hair cut.  He does have issues right now.  As a matter of fact, when he woke up, came to the top of the steps to see where I was, he then turned around and went back to bed...He'll get over it but I did take some pics of one of the earlier storms

There's two...Pretty but rather scary.  The death toll in West Tennessee keeps rising.. Oh yeah, and if its storming and I'm a little nervous?  Maxi, will NOT snuggle with me under any circumstances.  Geeze..
