Empty Nest

Tuesday and holding..

I had to go to the Dr today.  We had to get forms filled out so our medical benefits would cost us less.  Its the first time in forever that I went with nothing wrong and not needing a presecription.  So, just in case it would go to waste I got a flu shot.  Damn if that thing isn't the consistency of tar.  She kept saying it would "sting".  Sting is not the word.  Just plain hurt is what it did.  Stings only last a second.  this lasted the entire time it took her to get it all into my arm. Just sayin'

I love Tuesday nights.  I get to watch "Castle".  Its been on a few years and I LOVE it.  Since I have a DVR I can record anything that comes on at 10 and watch it the next night.  Hence "Castle" and "Hawaii Five-0" on Tuesday.

I want to see "Real Steel".   Has anyone seen it?  Is it good or a waste. 
I can not wait for my vacation!!!!!!

Another beauty of a day!!

Its so glorious here today.  I feel like I "bitched" so much about the winter that I should at least brag a bit when its nice.  It's supposed to be nicely warm for then next week. 

Its red rash time.  Every night about this time, my whole body (especially face) turns red with a rash.  It feels so hot etc.  Only lasts about 15-20 minutes but it happens every night.  I'm suspecting it may be a reaction to some of the supplements I take.  I know its not prescriptions. I've been taking them forever.  I think its either potassium or Flax Oil. 

I went a got Andy a harness today.  Yep, how'd that work out you ask?  Its too big.  Everything I get him is too big.  Anyway, he has his leash on right now.  I haven't tried to do anything with him I'm just thinking he should wear it for a while.  He's not mad at me tonight so I guess I'm making baby steps towards proving to him I'm not the person who took care of him for the past 2-1/2years. 

I need some "atta girls" right now.  There are a few things going on that I can't write about (not health) but are getting to me in a strange and bothersome way.   Some days are harder than others.  Sometimes I think I'm just to old to put up with this nonsense if you know what I mean...

What the???

 So, I come home from work and decided to check out the new design and see what it looked like......One of the sidebar sections "Gotta have buttons" moved its own little butt to the top of the side bar.  Now how brazen is that crap???.  My whole computer is acting up today.  Not like its a virus or anything but just being moody.  Maybe its that time of the month......
Have you ever seen a Real Estate agent on "House Hunters" ever take the people to a house that has anything they want?  They ask for 2 bedrooms...they take them to see 3/4...If they want 5 bedrooms, all they see is 3/4.  Makes you want to smack these people.  At least the dope I bought my house from was so lazy,. I found the house and decided to buy it myself.  He promised me he'd put in a Peep hole for me for buying the house.  Hell, I haven't seen him since the closing. 
Talk about a week of remodeling.  I've found a new "Nail place" so I'm going there tomorrow, getting my hair cut Thursday night and Maxi groomed Sat am.  Everything all at once.  Poor Maxi needs it most.   

TUESDAY..JUST TUESDAY

Its beautiful here today.  It's 55 and sunny.  Work was just plain hectic but at least I wasn't bored to death. 
Dexter was fantastic.  I watched it last night and I still love it.  I did see a sort of trailer that said the new episodes will be on Showtime. Have I made a mistake liking this?  I may have missed something because if I have to pay for Showtime to get the show, I'll stop right now.  I don't mind if its a season behind just as long as they keep it up.
I watched "The Brave One" and just in case you were wondering...didn't like it so much.  I was determined to see it right after it came out and I was disappointed in it. Did you watch it?  If so what did you think?
I'm getting into the "look for a house/condo" mood now.  Its almost the end of July and that's when I can buy one.  So, I'm kinda taking a survey.  Would you get a house or a condo?  Since I'm not a spring chicken, and can only do so much for myself (i.e. lifting the refrigerator, re-doing the roof etc) I've been looking at condo's.  But a  yard all my own would be so nice. You know, where you can fence in the backyard etc.  I guess I could find a condo w/ a fenced in backyard but they're aren't abundant.
I'll take any advice on my search. Let me know what you bought and why you like/dislike it?

Just a note for you...There are schools closing around here due to health issues,  That's right, everyone has the da*r flue and the only way they feel they can get a grip on it is to close schools.  The Knox Co schools haven't closed yet but most of the surrounding ones have. I supposed they'll close the borders if Knox doesn't follow...I don't have the flu, just this da*n nose that won't stop running...How attractive is that, right?
Did you watch Westminster last night?  I love that show.  I think I found the doggie that I want to win.  The 15" Beagle.  Isn't he absolutely adorable?  I was pulling for the long haired dachshund  to win the group but the little beagle did and he's also a doll.  The one I or so that I want to take home.....The 13" beagle (not the 15") and the little dachshund.  I then went to bed...I missed the "Sporting Group" winner. They went to break and I went to sleep.   If any one saw the rest of it , let me know please?

Terrific Tuesday..

Well, they won!!  My wonderful Giants that absolutely no one thought would win, did!!  Yeah Eli!!  I'm pulling for this team and its fun.  Its not that I dislike Peyton but I really like his brother.  A lot more but I think Peyton staying away from the game yesterday was brilliant.  It is for sure that if he was there, you might never know his brother was the quarterback. Now all we all have to do, no matter who we pull for.....is wait 2 f'ing weeks for the game.
Oh yeah, Amazing Race...How could I forget.  My absolute favorite couple won and I am thrilled.  The second place were ok, and I didn't like 3rd place team much so Sunday was a very good TV night for me..  How about you?

Ok, its back to like 27 today right now and its supposed to be 18 tonight with snow tomorrow...Do you believe it?   We'll see.
They busted a truck carrying 160 kilos of cocaine yesterday.  Now, if you were crazy enough to carry that much, why the hell would you speed?  Just asking

FREEZE WARNING?!?!?

What in the Sam Hill is this crap. ?  Its 37 now and they're saying on the news that by the time I leave here it should be around 32.  You should see my dog.  He's wrapped himself up into a ball to get warm.  Bless his freezing little heart.  Yes, I can turn the heat on but....its going to be 68 later.  No heat on in this house.  It will be beautiful this afternoon. 
Oh yeah, remember that 2008 Honda Accord that I bought?  You know, the one that something flew up off of the road and did some damage to it.  I bought it with heatable seats, defrosting side windows.....Would be kinda nice if I had it now and could use that stuff.  My window scraper is in the Honda at the shop.  I'm going to call today and try to find out how long this is going to take. I'm getting a bit annoyed. They've had it for two full weeks and I want my car.  At this point I've driven the Caravan nearly as long as the Honda.   Geeze........
My phone rang last night about 8:30..It was my son.  He was in Denver on business and wanted me to guess where he was.   No being totally ignorant...I guess the football game and dammit he was.  "Dammit" because I wanted to be there.  He told me where he was sitting, very good seats I might add, and I never saw him.  I did have a text message this morning from him saying it was a great game...man what a life....

TERRIFIC TUESDAY

Did you watch "Dancing w/the Stars" last night.  Poor Marie Osmond, she passed out cold on the stage right before she was supposed to get her scores.  It was pretty terrifying to tell you the truth.  They keep saying she's ok and she was back at the end of the show but still........I do hope she's ok..
Colts won....that is good.  Since they're seeming to put them up against the Patriots I guess I'll have to root for them. I'm just not terribly fond of the Pat's coach and I do like everyone who plays for the Colts.   When they play each other in about two weeks...it'll be a great game..I hope its not Monday night, but I fear it is............
It's raining folks.   That is so good for us now.  It's supposed to  rain on and off all week and we do need it............One thing I noticed.  The morning news people all look like they woke up about 20 mins ago.  I think one actually forgot to shave.....
As far as the car...they still can't tell me anything.  I'm going to start some "sh*t".  I've been with this ins. company since 1992 and only had one claim in all that time.  Don't you get insurance to take care of all of this and keep things as normal as possible for us...the customer?  I can't get anything out of the "insurance" girl so today I'm going to step over onto the "not so nice" line and see what that will do.   I don't like the Caravan.  Don't get me wrong it may be a very nice car but.....I don't want, need or even lust after Vans.  Its huge and I don't need that and the gas!!!!!!!! Geeze I want my brand new car.....and soon   

Terrific Tuesday, or so they say..

Let me just say this .......Windows Vista ain't so good folks and I'm stuck with it.  If you take it off of the computer it voids any and all warranties....Given time, I may discover more of this and decide its ok but in 2 evenings.  leaving much to be desired.  I need to find a book "vista for dummies".   because that may be the way I learn this (who ever asked for this) monster.. If you use Vista and have figured out some things...Let me know ok.  before I shoot it
I'm drinking coffee this morning....For the 3rd day in a row.  No trouble yet and Im soooo excited.  You'd think, after all this time without caffeine a cup would "start my engine"..Not so much...Maybe after the shower,,but you know, its just the taste of coffee in the morning that I want in the morning and its back.....Thank's Nexium you seem to be a miracle worker!!!

So sorry to all my friends who are "Yankee" fans.  At this time I'm not sure if I'll watch it or not.   Like I said..I'll root for the Rockies but that doesn't mean I'll watch.  It is football season  you know!!!!!!

Terrific Tuesday

Mornin'...I wish I had a more exciting life to share......Maxi goes into the hospital tomorrow.  I don't know at what time I need to cut him off of food and water but............that won't be easy folks .  When he gets up in the morning he goes out, runs back in and drinks probably 1/2-1 cup of water and then he gets his "chickens" (my nick name thank you very much) for breakfast.  We are total creatures of habit.  I have no idea what to do when he goes for his water and breakfast treats and they're NOT THERE!!  I hope they don't expect much from me at work Wed.  I'll be in a panic until I get the phone call saying he's awake and he's ok.  I love this dog everyone.   More than I can ever describe so we're all praying for a fatty cyst..and that he wake up!!
Congratulations all fans of the Colorado Rockies.  That is a wonderful thing. Their first baseman is Todd Helton.  He used to be the quarterback for the UT Vols. Back when Peyton Manning was here.  Which may be the reason he decided to stay with baseball.  Peyton was made QB and that pretty much meant Todd was a backup...I'm so glad he made it in the MLB.  He was a great player of us in baseball too!!.  I'll root for them unless they're playing the Cubbies....
The temp here is trying to get hot again.  grrrrrrr...There isn't a cloud in the sky  and not a drop of rain anywhere in the near future.  We're still in a drought here...We really, reallly need some rain....

'TIS TUESDAY

Well, I've decided on a Honda.  It just depends on which Honda.  CRV or Accord.  I've done more research on this than anything in a long time.  The service is great. Depending on who you ask it's super to godlike and the sales place has been the best.  We'll see which one I decide on tonight... I thrilled with the trade in they're giving on the trade in etc.  So wish me luck and I'll put a picture up tonight, if I get one. Thanks for all of your help too...
Next.......Just FYI.  Its September 25th....Yesterday's hi was 90+ ,,,,god I hate this.  They keep saying it'll go back down Thursday, when it will rain for two days.  24th...Tied the record..I think it sa 94..........grrrr

Terrific Tuesday

I'm trying but I'm not sure that today is terrific but...hell its Tuesday...I slept late, wish I had slept later.  This total caffeine withdrawl is killing me.  I haven't had a drop since last Thursday.  The only time I miss it is first thing in the AM. But, it has totally or nearly totally stopped the pain in my stomach. (cutting coffee only worked for a few days, like 2).  This has worked since last Friday. 
They're doing a special on "coping with the heat" right now.  Its going up to 96 today. The air was so bad yesterday that I thought it was raining off in the distance, the visibilty was so bad.. Oh yeah, and this kind of heat just plain ain't dry heat....Geeze..It feels over 100 and just plain drippy....
Well, I'm off.  My last trip to Chic Fil A is tomorrow.  Once school starts the traffic will be too bad.  Have a great day and.....

Just today

Only Tuesday...but!!!  It might as well be Friday since tomorrow is a holiday.  One of the girls in the office is taking the rest of the week off so I'm working.  That's just fine too.  I don't expect it to be too busy while she's gone.  I've already turned off the alarm clock. 
Did you watch "Hells Kitchen" last night. ?  This was one of the shows where his language etc might have been required.   I for once didn't feel like it was a show.. I personally wanted him to bop Melissa right on the head.  What I don't understand is why he didn't send her home.  Is she his "Pet"?.  It seems like he has one every season and tries to get them to stay to try and improve.  She's really the only one I have feelings about.  I don't much like her but all of the others..............I don't much like, or don't much anything else...don't really hate anyone and don't have a favorite.  I think if I had to pick one..I'd pick Laura but I think her lack of experience may eventually cost her the win.
Two things here..........Happy Day before Holiday....and BB starts on THURSDAY NIGHT!!!!

Good Tuesday Mornin' everyone

Well, "Hells Kitchen" wasn't quite as bad as I though last nigh.  Maybe he's toning down a bit this year.  What gets me is the contestants whining about him (Ramsey) and his temper.  Where the heck were these people the past two years?   That's what the heck he's known for...Screaming ,yelling and swearing if things aren't going right.  HEY Folks....Nuttin goes right on this show.  If it just seems like it is going right.....I promise, its probably not so quit whining about him screaming ets.  Its the whole reason anyone watches.   
If you want to learn some cooking stuff, watch Food Network Star or Top Chef.  You might get a little help there but actually, just watch Food TV or go to "All Recipe".com.    I must say I have joined a vegetarian site and they send me receipes. I don't think this is going to go too well simply because yesterday's recipe "Lima bean hummus"....Just didn't tickle my fancy.  Lima beans are the one veggie that unless its hidden in a very strong veggie soup, I will NOT even consider eating.  And I'd better not see on too close to me .....so, let see what tomorrow bring.

Terrific Tuesday

Tonight is the finale of "Dancing with Stars"  I'm of the opinion that Lela Ali might have messed up in the 'free style" dancing.  I didn't like what she did and the judges didn't.  I think its down to the two guys.  Of course that depends on what dancing they do tonight.  Evidently there's one more dance to be done. 
I didn't make it through "Heroes" last night so I'll have to watch the DVR version but that will probably be tomorrow since I'm getting my hair cut tonight after work.
My coworker...let me tell you her story.  A few weeks ago she was stopped at a red light.  At least the 5-6 car in line.  Right about then a big ol' "roofing company" truck slammed right into the back of her.  Mercifully, he little girl wasn't in the back seat.  According to some witnesses the girl would have been killed.  Co-worker was pretty well knocked around but nothing too serious yet.  Car.....Totaled..
Here's my gripe.  The driver of the truck had no insurance.  Right now it looks like the owner of the truck didn't either.  She owed a lot on that car.. Long story why (trade in for it wasn't paid off) but her regular insurance is going to pay for the "blue book" value.  She got something called "gap" insurance that is supposed to pay off the balance......Sometime.....Meanwhile, the rental car people want their car back and NOW...Her insurance won't pay anymore on it and as of right now she has no transportation..She works an hour from home.....So here's this young couple who had a handle on everything when some dude put them in a total upheaval.  They can't buy another car until the totaled one gets paid off.  They're still having to pay on the balance of the loan, and pay insurance on a car that couldn't get on the hwy if it had too and they have no wheels to get her to work.   All because some SOB drove around with no insurance.  There has just got to be something wrong here....this isn't right and I feel bad for her.  There isn't anything I can do to help but I sure wish there was.  She had the insurance dammit.  It was him who didn't......slug......

Just Tuesday

So, what did you think about Dancing last night?  I still like John (Norm) best just because he looks like he's having fun.  I also like Billy Ray, but i didn't like some parts of his routine last night.  Tonight should be interesting to see who they send home. I'm hoping Heather Mills goes home, but I've wanted that since the start. 
Cubs lost...AGAIN.  So much for Lou and a great season
I've made a discovery.  Brilliant? No but what the hey....Remember when "Swiffer"came out.  The Wet one?  Well, I bought the Clorox version.  I've been so NOT impressed with the Clorox.  I'd mop and mop and the floor never looked good. Understand this.  I'm not that picky...So anyway, I mopped twice last week and it looked dreadful so this weekend I went and bought a Swiffer.....HOLY SH*T.  What the heck have I been missing.  The grime it picked up off of the floor looked like I hadn't mopped in six months..  Just saying folks...FYI
Off to work.  I've been awake since 4:30 am and this is going to be a long day...Have a good one folks.

Back to work...ugh

Well, my mini vacation is over and its supposed to be beautiful today.  Wouldn't you just know...I'mm so torn here.  You know I watch Mike and Mike in the morning on ESPN2 every morning but for some reason, today, I'm drawn to CNN.  I think the hostess is freezing.  Nothing more on that.  I have no idea what to say for now...Their days are going to be awful ahead...
I may be getting another doggie.  Its up to my sisters who ended up with a fourth and maybe want to find her a house.  Shes a mini dachsund (3 of their 4 are).  If I get here, I'll pick her up at the marathon in Nasvhille.  I'm excited and Maxi didn't seem to mind the night I was there that she slept with us...I thought I had a picture but......nopey.  Believe me, if I get here there will be plenty...
DWTS...Clyde or Billy Ray need to go home.  Who do I want to go home?  Heather.

BETTER....

Nothing exciting except today was better than yesterday.  That's always great when the next day is better than the last one.  I wish I wasn't born in January.  At my age, its not enough to be a wonderful month.  Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled with every single birthday I'm lucky enough to have it just doesn't make a depressing, annoying month that great. 
I got my hair cut today.  What do you do if you're pretty sure its a sucky hair cut.  Problem being that its a friend of mine.  Been a friend for years and I do pay her for the cuts.  She has her own shop.  I though the last cut being bad was just a bad day but today.....I keep telling myself that it's got all goo etc in it and it may look a lot better in the am..Pray for me friends.....please....
We're supposed to have rain, sleet, snow and ice Thursday and Friday.  Anyone wanna

Staying in bed today would be a most excellent idea.  Just in case anyone asks it really would...................Flushing my brain would be a good idea too.....It's cold, my skin is screaming for ICU treatments, my doggies "arthritis" is acting up and he's on meds and I wish I had the kahuna's to just pull up and get the hell out.....NOW..........I'm a chicken,...

Tuesday...and winter

Well, if I'm to believe the weatherman its 56 now and that's today's high. So what the hell do you wear to work for this weather any way.?  This time of year, which usually occurs in November/December just plain confuses the heck out of me.  It's supposed to be rainy and possibly snowy today but beautifully cold tomorrow. 
I'm going to have to put the heat on today for the first time in over a week.  I'm not complaining at all I just think its funny that I'm saying this in January.
What causes odd dreams? Last night, I dreamed that I started smoking again.  That I had the worst nicotine fit in years and lit one up.  Oh boy, it tasted good too...Then I dreamed about my mom, and trying to hide from her that I was smoking.  Well, Mom's been dead since 1992.  Then one of the salesmen who used to work for our company bought me a pack and told me i could smoke it and then never smoke again.  Besides the fact that I wanted a cigarette, where the hell did all that come from!!  Don't ask how well I slept last night.  Just forget that
Maxi doesn't like this laptop.  I'm on the couch and he's looking at me like I'm Benedict Arnold.  See, he's on the floor next to the PC, which is usually where I post in the morning, and I'm across the room on the couch. He doesn't understand and he sure as hell doesn't like it. 
I wonder how today would turn out if I spent it doing one of those "finable" offenses listed below...........Pondering, pondering

Ready....but bleh...

AARRRGGG..  Ok, that's the "good god I have to go back to work" scream.  I'm somewhat ready, but getting up was difficult.  I've slept until 7:30 (at least) the last 10 days and 5:30 was way TOOOOO early this morning. But, I'm ready.  I think.
Boise State won last night.  Boise State beat Oklahoma last night.  Boise State is NOW UNDEFEATED... Congrats to all fans of Boise State, no I didn't stay up to watch it but I just saw the highlights and it was fantastic.!!!  Congrats again....
I've got to go get ready for work.  I need to start a little earlier since my hair needs "curling" now....Have a great day folks.  Back in to reality

Terrific Tuesday

Good god, I wish they'd find those hikers.  The one's that are left.  This has just got to be hell on earth for those families.  I mean, its awful listening every day about them not being found, how dreadful could it be if it was a family member.  Breaks my heart. 
Family...Speaking of family.  To those of you who read my daughters site, let me clarify a thing or two ok?  First, I am not evil.  I know she said I was and....as my daughter she may think I'm evil but I'm not.  You've seen her pictures, you've seen how little she is (doesn't take much after me in that dept), ....Just because I sent a pack of cordial flavored Hershey kisses to the FAMILY, does not mean she has to eat EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!!!..I have no idea where she gets that.  I mean, my bag has one left.  See..I didn't eat them all. See.....I also have no idea where she gets the box of wine idea.  I mean, who the hell would drink boxed wine.  It is so un educated etc.  And they take up the entire top shelf of the refrigerator  oops!!!!...Gave it away didn't I?.  And she didn't mention the tons of nuts and bolts I sent.  What? did she eat them all too?...geeze.  As you can tell, she inherited so many of her mothers lovely traits and talents.  But I am NOT evil.  Just wanting to share..and I sent the treats for the children...I wonder how many Nikki got..........eheheheheheheeh..

Crap, its 23 degrees here and I'm freezing...I've got the heat on, of course but its just not keeping the downstairs really warm.  The upstairs is fine but down here...eek. The computer is acting like it's cold too and doesn't want to be a computer.  AND. I didn't sleep worth a lick last night and all I want to do is go back to bed.  I keep telling myself that I'm off for four days and can sleep as late as I want to but for right now.  I don't want to wait until Thursday to sleep folks.  I want to sleep NOW..

Did you watch Heroes last night?  Surely you did right.  OMG what a fantastickly confusing episode.  Who the hell got murdered?  I thought it would be Jessica and we'd be guessing whether Nikki survived.  It had better not have been Peter...But would it be murder if Peter died?  No one really murdered him.  Should Eden count, if she's dead?  She's not really a hero.  What about the drawings?  2 days ago was when he drew them?  She's been dead longer than that...Is the cheerleaders daddy a mean evil person or what?  If he erases Claire's memory, will she be able to take care of herself?  Oh goodness I love that show and will miss it terribly...I want to be on the list....Have a great day everyone.

Terrific? Tuesday

Back to no exciting life again.  Woe is me...And, I'm spoiled rotten.  I've worked so little the last few weeks that getting up is killing me.  Now, I'll have a four day weekend and probably won't sleep 1 hr late all four days. 
It's 51 degrees here this morning and they keep saying its going to get bitterly cold by Friday (my day off)..At least I won't feel bad staying home and doing some "spring cleaning".. 
Did you watch "Heroes" last night?  I'm not going to give anything away (or try not to) but it was so good.  They did do what they said.  Answered a lot of questions. A lot and made some of it clearer.  Here's the good part, it didn't make it more confusing.  It looks like next week is going to be equally as good and I, for one, can't wait.  What I don't get is this "Fall finale" episode.  I don't think Heroes is coming back until Feb 12th.  Holy smokes.  I know NBC doesn't want to run any re-runs so they're going to stop running it at all.  I'm thinking 2 months is just plain too long but they said that beginning  Feb there will be no reruns.  It'll be new shows until the summer break.  I'm going to miss it.  I may have to move this show up on the "favorite" list to number 2. right behind Criminal Minds. 
No "Dancing" tonight. I'm going to miss that show too but I guess they don't need to  put it on so much its "overkill".

Today...is election day.  I've already voted, many thanks to early voting here in Tennessee.  It's kind of dreary here and its supposed to rain on and off all day ..dammit.  I'm not terribly political and don't usually post about elections etc but there is one amendment up for passing and I just really hope a lot of people vote to make sure it doesn't...That's all on that but...............I'm also so sick of "Hi, I'm Bob Corker and I've approved of this message yada yada yada"....OMG you wouldn't believe how many times that's been on TV in the past few weeks.  You know, there's been many times, over kill in commercials have changed the way I vote.  Just saying
Dancing is on tonight.  Oh my goodness.  Emmitt, Joey and Mario.  Hey, folks its a pretty view if nothing else. I want them to win in the above order.  I don't think that's what happens but that's what I want.  How about you?  Any preferences?  Now don't forget we're talking dancing here, not Mario's hips and butt. If it came down to that.  He's win hands down..
Damn, I fell asleep during "Heroes" last night.  Thank goodness I've got it on tape.  This time change is killing me.  Last night, I kept wanting to doze off at 8 pm.  Now, that's kind of early.  My body thinks its 9 pm thought and I'm not sure how to convince it to stay up a tad later...
I did watch last Tuesday's NCIS last night.  Might I just say that "Abby" looks fantastic in a Marilyn Monroe costume.   I love her anyway and she sure looked fantastic.  I'm pulling for Jethro and Abby to hook up....That would be great, don't ya think?
