Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is tomorrow.  I'm going to spend the day with my sisters and brothers.  It will be such a great day.  I haven't seen any of them since last year at the Holiday's.  This year is my children visiting the families of their significant others.  None being close to me at all.  

What am I thankful for this year?  Most of you know.  I'm thankful for being alive.  Diagnosed with cancer, going through the chemo treatments and getting cleared all in one year is a wonderful year.  It was very difficult.  Don't get me wrong.  One of the the things I have to be grateful for is the strength the Good Lord gave me to get through this.  No family living near made it very hard when all I wanted to do was sleep and cry but I got through it with Gods help and here I am cancer free so far and for that....I am so thankful.  

I'm so thankful for my job my friends and my family.  Even the family members I will miss this Thanksgiving.  They were all with me during the sickness and during the rest of the year.  My place of employment was so easy on me during all of this.  One more thing I didn't have to worry about and I'm thankful for that, believe me.  

Have a very safe and Happy Thanksgiving everyone.  I know I am blessed to have all of you in my life.

Sunday

So, what am I doing today?  Right now, nothing.  But I have dressing in the oven, fixin' to grill a turkey (never done that before) and also making a batch of Chex Mix and doing laundry.  Also watching the Titans suck.  So what are you doing?

Rosco is outside tanning.  We're going to my sisters for Thanksgiving.  It won't be a long trip but it will be nice.  I haven't seen any family members since last Thanksgiving.  

I'll let you know how the grilled turkey comes out.  The dressing is on a "warming" plate covered and getting perfect.  My dressing has black olives in it so if you don't like black olives, you probably wouldn't like my dressing. but I do!!!

What is it that every time I look up at the TV the darned Redskins have the ball.  I wouldn't know that the Titans had it except they've scored once

11/18/10 What a week

I'm fine but its been a dreadfully something weird of a week.  I've been on the computer so much at work that I haven't wanted to get on this thing when I get home.  I haven't even checked my email in a few days.  I can check my email at work now though so I've not totally neglected it.  

I have found out something.  If you feel nauseated (which I did yesterday) and  you take a phenergan (sp) for it.  You will be useless. and I mean TOTALLY useless for the rest of the day.  Might not puke but....good for nothing.   I got the med when I started chemo but they gave me a very strong medicine with the chemo and special tablets to take for the next two days after a treatment.  I didn't need anything else so I didn't take any of the meds.  HA....I kept falling asleep at work,...sitting up at my desk I'd just suddenly be asleep.  Thank goodness I live very close to work or I'd have been in trouble driving there.  Meanwhile, I streaked my hair this past weekend.  It was so light.  I didn't think I had gotten one that was very light but some parts of my hair were nearly white. I hated it.  So, i went today and bought an ash blonde.  Did my entire head and now I'm a blonde.   It toned down the "frosted" part.  I think I like it.  I got it cut also and its very short.  It should be about the right length by Christmas.  I'm hoping for that because I don't like it this short.  

Time to find somethng to eat for dinner.   Have a lovely evening.  I guess I've blown the post every day but I'll try to keep it up.  

 

 

 

Nov 13

Missed another day OOPS.  I'm miserable today.  Congested achey sore.  I hope its just a bad morning for allergies.  I know I'm susceptible (?) to just about anything.  I have had a flu shot so I'm hoping its just "a "fall time of year" thing." I'm going to get my hair cut this morning, nails done too,  I was going shopping but I feel pretty awful so I may just come back and crawl up on the couch.

Nablopomo prompt for today

What do you like most about cold weather? What do you like the least?
I used to like cold weather because I was always hot.  Especially during the "changing" days.  Now, after the chemo, I may be a bit closer to not liking it too much.  But. today I'm rather uncomforably warm so we'll see.   

The thing I like the least about it is having to dress up to just take the doggie out to pee.  He has grown to dislike the cold weather, especially in the morning, so I have to go out with him.  Not fond of that at all.

Can not wait for the holidays.   What should I take for thansgiving?  I'm driving 3 hrs on Thanksgiving morning..Ideas please?

I'm very sleepy tonight.  Don't really know why but my understanding is, that it will continue for a while.  I also stopped taking Lyrica.  I talked to the nurse and she said to phase myself off of them.  I'm down to two a day, then 1 then none.  I'm excited about it though and I'm sure the bad effects will lessen as time goes by

Oh yeah, I went and got a photo ID today.  i.e. Drivers License with a picture.  That means I can now fly.  What with the holidays etc coming up I want to make sure that's ok.  Picture isn't so bad either.

I had some pictures on my camera. Some of them were good subjects for this month.  I down loaded them from the camera, deleted the pictures off of the camera and now I can't find the damn things.  

Just love it when I'm so brilliant!!!

Didn't Forget 11/08

Here I am.  I'm miserable.  That crazy neurapathy is driving me nuts BUT the damn medicine they've given me is worse that the disease.  I'm bloated like a balloon, you should see my legs.  They're huge from the hips down.  By noon every day my whole body is killing me.  

Here's my thinking.  (My hands are swollen too and typing sucks).  If this crap is going to hurt and after 3 weeks on this medicine that is making me miserable.....Why am I taking this medicine. Lyrica.   It may be wonderful for some things but it sure as heck isn't wonderful for me.  If they don't have something else that will a) not make me swell like this, b) not give me this darned appetite that I don't have the will power to fight c.) will actually make this better  than I'm all for not taking anything and just living with it.  It sure as hell can't be any worse than it already is with the meds....  I looked it up and the medicine will make you "feel high".  It does and I've got to say I've loved that but....I'll weight 2000 lbs at this rate and be happy all the way. 

Soo..the nurse is supposed to talk to the Dr tomorrow. I'll call her first and tell her what I've decided.  I'll let you know what she says.  It probably won't matter.

I thought I had posted yesterday. What a doofus I am.  Messed up early in the month...grrrr.   

Anyway its colder that Poop today.  Rosco is still in the bed under all of the covers.  I'm going to start a bean soup for tonight.   

I'm also putting up bird places to eat .  One thing for sure...no sunflower seeds  I don't want the forest I  had at the other place.

Nov 5. Nablopomo stuff

Ok, if you haven't figured it out I' m trying to post every day.  What an idea.  I'm planning on it but with the holidays this month it could be very difficult.  Right now, we are under a winter advisory for all day the fifth.  May get snow. Snow here in Tennessee in November.!!! That is just plain too early which of course makes me wonder what in the hell the coming winter will bring I know so many of you live "up north" but this isn't "yankee territory".  

Nablopomo has given some prompts and I'm going to respond to the one for the fourth.  I don't get these until late the night of, so it'll all be on the fifth.  The one for the fourth is: Would you rather be wealthy and ugly, wise and sickly, or beautiful and stupid?

I think I'm pulling for wealthy and ugly.  Sickly is not an option.  Had enough of that in the past year so wise and sickly are out, beautiful and stupid is just stupid.  I'm not stupid and I'm not beautiful.  Looks aren't anything and I refuse to be stupid.  SOOOO.. wealthy and ugly.  I make enough money to live on (which means I'll be working until I'm dead) so wealthy would be nice.  I could/would travel.  I want to see Rome but more importantly I want to see this country.  Every single bit of it.  I've always felt we had a beautiful place right here in the good ol' USA and I want to see it dammit.  So that's what I'd do if I was wealthy...Ugly is in the beholder so I'll just keep what I have and live with it.  Its just not that important

Nov 4---Just a good day

I felt so much better today  I had slept well but was a bit drowsy this morning.  As the day went on though I woke up and the day was pretty good.  Everyone was in a good mood so we all worked good n hard but joked and had a great day.  I think I was much more relieved and rested from Tuesday and the last 6 months that I could laugh and enjoy just the fact that I don't have to do anything to get ready for a chemo treatment again.  

I'm babbling probably because I'm not sure what to say.  There are a few things going on in my life that just plain hurt and I'm not sure how to handle it.  Or is it just me being who I am.  It can be either but right now I sometimes feel like a bitch and what has that got to do with anything....what a mixed up, crazy person I am right now.  

I must say I was pleased with the voting outcome. Yep.  Now lets see if these people are what we need or not.   I was pleased with our governor election.  Yep, happy with that.  

Let me say this one thing.  I REALLY DISLIKE MARTY ON SURVIVOR!!!  I WISH HE WOULD GO HOME RIGHT NOW...

Nov 3---Yesterday

Tuesday really wore me out.  I was so darned tired by the time that I got home I was nearly asleep by 6:00.  There are some people who haven't made a comment on the fact that I was clear.  Some who meant so much to me.  That was a bit depressing.  I know this sounds crazy but I guess it was more important to me than the rest of the world!! Think so? 

The Dr did say I was a high risk for recurrence cancer but for me now, I'm fine.  He doesn't want to see me for 6 months.  I do have to have the port rinsed out every 8 weeks but I don't have to see the Dr for 6 months.  Its going to take a while for me to get "unused to" my bi--weekly visit to the chemo center.  I must say tho'...I'm looking forward to the adjustment!!

Oh yeah,  I also got a flu shot today.  Dr said if I got the flu, as low as my immune system is, it could be fatal.  Reckon he's working for the "shot" people.  This is the first flu shot I have EVER had.  Or at least in any time by my memory.  

That's all I have from yesterday.  A friend at work bought us all lunch to celebrate, I came home and ate nothing nourishing and right now, my stomach feels just like that and has all night.  So much for celebrating...

Bye to my friend

I have this one friend who has been "sticking by me" for the last 6 months.  At least 6 times a month.  Whenever it felt neglected it whined  Very loud but easy to shut up someone else couldn't get to  it nicely I knew which "buttons" to push to quiet it down Here is his/her picture

Pretty isn't he.  The yellow button was the quiet one.  That's the extent of my knowledge  He hung there while I was bored, exhausted and just plain asleep.  Always doing his job.  Almost my little buddy but not quite  He couldn't come home and sleep with me.  If I get "cleared" this picture would be the last time I've been "hooked up" to him  

He also wasn't as good as the nurses.  All 4 of them were fantastic.  I will miss them terribly.  I'm also glad to know that if something isn't right they'll be there to see me through it.  If not, I will have made soe wonderful friends in the process of this "treatment".

I'll let you all know what happens today.  It'll probably be after noon but I will post.  Something 

Nov 1/10

Well, here I am
from work. Not doing to well since the Dr appt is in the
morning. Its difficult to concentrate on anything waiting on this
damn visit to get out of the way. I keep telling myself that it will
be fine but you know how the mind works....Hell mine can come up with reasons to
worry.....when there aren't any.

I'm going to
Tucson 3 days after Christmas with my daughter and her family. 6 of
us. As she said...PRAY FO US BEGINNING NOW!! I can NOT wait for
that. I keep thinking about it when this day gets difficult. Family
does that for you, you know. Friends too.,

Off for a
bit. Maybe be back tonight but wanted to make sure I got today
in. I'll try to post after the Dr's appt in the morning. The
appt is at 9:30 so give me some time...
