Well, I think I may be a bit better today than yesterday. At least, whatever I ate that tried to kill me, seems to have subsided for a while anyway.
Last night, Anderson Cooper was back from vacation so I watched and most of the show was devoted to Peter Jennings. He seemed to be a pretty special human being, or that's what they portrayed him as. But they did talk about lung cancer, cigarettes etc and I found out something that I didn't know.. He quit smoking more than 20 years ago. 20 damn years ago and it took 4 months from the time he announced he had a tumor, until death. You can imagine my first thought. "I'm off to buy a pack of cigs"...I mean heck, if 20 years won't guarantee that you won't die of lung cancer, why go through all of this to quit. THEN...when I re-listened to his announcement on his last night on the news and I picked up on something I had forgotten. He admitted to breaking down during 9/11 and smoking a little. According to one of the doctors, that one breakdown could very well be what triggered the lung cancer. That if you quit, no matter for how long, and then smoke even a little, later on, you could "awaken" dormant cells and undo all the good done up to that point...Holy Shit. Anyone who has quit smoking can understand exactly why he smoked during 9/11. Don't think it didn't enter my mind, and I wasn't expected to be on TV, and act totally in control and in charge. Of course, there's no telling what he meant by a "little" as far as smoking but still........I was always under the impression that if you manage to quit, after 4 years your health is back to "never" smoked condition....mmm..
Now, don't forget BB is on tonight. I still don't know who won POV. There are lots of spoilers out there that will tell you ahead of time but I'm one of those who would rather not know until tonight.. Actually, by now you could probably find out what the person that won the veto did too...I'd rather wait until tonight...
I don't think I've ever mentioned this before but my second favorite cable news show (first being Anderson Cooper) is "Countdown" with Keith Oberman. There are a lot of nights he is opposite a "network " show so I forget to watch him, but I do usually catch him a few nights a week. If you're wondering what to watch some night around 8 EST give MSNBC a shot. It really is a good show....
Have a great day everyone.....
Hey Lady! I quit smoking 7 years ago....I regret ever smoking in the first place, but I can't change my stupidity. I am glad I quit though. I know I feel better and I know I smell better. LOL It is so hard to say what brings on all the cancer. I do believe though, that cigs are horrible for your heart and your lungs....hell your whole body in general. I lost a good friend to lung cancer and she only had 4 months from the time she found out to the day she passed away as well. She was a heavy smoker...and only 46..I will always miss her. Ok...I didn't mean to be a bummer or to ramble so....

Damn cigarettes. And yes, it is almost certain (99.9%?) that cigs are what got him.

Christopher Reeves widow announced to-day she has lung cancer, and she is a non-smoker. Can it be proven Peter's was from smoking?

It was saddened when I hear that. I honestly didn't even know he was sick. He sure has seen alot of stuff in his career. That couldn't have been easy.

What I want to know is if he was at Ground Zero.
Because with all the things he covered in his life? Maybe it wasn't cigarettes at all...
